Bit of Bully

Last night was the tradtional post-work Monday evening drink with Andy at the Northstar. A classic 'local' in all senses of the word, its a great place to escape the pressures of day to day life...it sells booze.

Actually, it was our first drink there on a Monday in a while. This month has been stupidly busy for all sorts of rather dull reasons that I won't bother going into here, so it felt like a mini home coming. The barmaid seemed pleased to see us...well she smiled.

Played a few games of darts in which I was soundly beaten by Andy 7 - 1. When I first started playing, guess about a year or so ago now, I was completely rubbish. I was playing well if I managed to get all three darts actually on to the board. I never used to mind being beaten by Andy, he's a good player and has been playing for years. In fact where I wasted my time at uni drinking tea and watching my house mate Lewis play on the Dreamcast, Andy wasted his time playing darts at his union.

Now though...I've improved a lot, though I'm still no where near 'good', but good enough to win the odd game here and there. With the possibility of winning, losing is more annoying, and so reducing my enjoyment of the game. So by getting better I've taken away some of the fun!

Still, I see this as a temporary lull. Surely I will get better, even things up a bit, and enjoy the dizzying high of winning more often than the dejection of losing. Then who will be King of Darts? ME! Hahahahaha. Eat that Andy! Eat my darts!

Unless of course Andy improves at the same rate as me, forever being 7 games ahead...damn.

Nice to see that you are hard at work trying to rescue our failing careers!

It's true that among many of Ians great tallents, darts is not all that high on the list. However, with a little coaching from me and buying a new set of darts accomadate his fingers and thums approach to the noble art, we are at last, getting places (perhaps not the Lakeside but the North Star is far enough for now).

If anybody would like to discuss my magnificent 115 outshot refered to in an earlier posting, please feel free to by me a beer and I be happy give a half hour talk about the great event.

Better still do the Ian & Andy's guided tour of pub dart venues. Re-live the magic with us of some of the great monday nights, and regale in stories of tension drama, and the odd bit of dodgey scoring.

TTFN

Love Andy "Arrows" Bull
