Baby Ben

Last Saturday young Ben arrived on our world at 6:43pm, BST. Ben, son of my good friend Steve and his lovely lady Wendy, weighed 8lb, 3 ounces. I can't believe that a friend the same age as me is actually a father now. A real grown up and everything. He actually managed to trick some poor lady into having his kid. She's got no choice to put up with him now, yay!

A very tired Wendy when the little blighter who is causing all the fuss

Of course I'm joking (I am aren't I Wendy?). I saw Steve on Monday evening. After spending a week of sleepless nights waiting for the baby Steve had come down with a nasty cold which meant he couldn't go and see the them in the hospital that night (much to his annoyance). We talked about the same old rubbish that we normally do, except every so often Steve would talk about the first time the baby held his finger, or the first time he saw Ben. I could see he had changed. He had a look in his eye... a purpose, a direction. Basically despite a nasty cold he looked bloody happy.

Many congratulations Steve and Wendy. And welcome to Earth Ben, it has its moments but its pretty good when you get used to it.

Congratulations Steve! Nice to see that fatherhood hasn't changed you - still wearing those shorts. ;)

Thanks for your comments. And yes, the shorts are staying, I will be buying some for Ben to teach him the ways of Bolton.
