Its all Greek to me, ho ho ho.

Apologies for the long gap in updates. I've been on holiday, enjoying the slightly out of season delights of Zakynthos, a Greek island. Had a great time with my good lady. Very relaxing, which is just what I wanted.

If it was in season though I imagine it could be a complete nightmare. It was very much a 'British' resort. Lots of resturants and bars with adverts outside that said things like 'Full English Breakfast available all day!!!' and 'Traditional Roast Dinners with all the trimmings'. The lady who showed Lucy and me to our apartment (called Janice and from somewhere Northern) reassured us that we could buy baked beans in the shop. She then recommended the resort's 'Greek Night'. It did cross my mind that now we are in Greece then surely every night is Greek night, but apparently not.

I'm sure you are thinking that it all sounds too horrible for words, and as I say I reckon during June and July it would be. But it was great last week. There were enough seemingly proper Greek Tavernas or resturants to avoid the 'Down Under Bar' or 'Faze (with novelty vodkas!!!)'.

Thing is I can't begrudge those people who want holidays with Roast Dinners and what have you. Its their free time. The thing that does depress me is that those type of places end up taking over and dominating holiday destinations.

Deep down though, is Roast Dinners really what I want? Maybe I just pretend that I want to try Greek food as thats what 'travellers' do? To be honest I'm not sure...I know this, as much as I enjoyed Zakynthos, now I'm back in Britain at least I can eat chips without feeling a sell out.

One thing that did amaze me though was how many Brits are 1. Fat and 2. Tatooed. Guess our climate usually means they have to wear clothes and so pass unnoticed when here, but abroad... Lets just say we have no right to laugh at Americans.

Feet in water... ahhhhh.
