Kite-tastic!

Regular readers will know that Jade got me a kite for my birthday, and what a kite! Its not your normal 'Charlie Brown getting it stuck in a tree diamond shape' jobby. Oh no, this is some kind of extreme sports kite. I'm almost tempted to say the word radical.

But I won't.

Saturday was perfect kite flying conditions. The sun was shining, the wind blowing and everything seemed right with the world. Andy, Paul, Laura, Jade and myself found a nice spot and I put it together. The stage was set. Andy took the kite to the other end of our patch of grass. I took hold of the two, erm, handles (that can't be the right word but I can't think what else to call them) and I gave the signal to 'RELEASE THE KITE'.

Of course it came crashing down straight away. On my second go though I managed to get it in the air and the lessons taught to me by my kite Sensai Simon Miller (Everyone's Talking About Him, TM) came flooding back.

Me flying the kite (kite not pictured).

I think it would not be unkind to say that out of our merry group only Andy and myself really mastered the kite. The others gave it a go but they met with... mixed success. Yes, Jade did almost kill a woman and her young child.

In fact Andy and me had so much control that the idea of upgrading to the 7 footer was discussed. Boys and their toys eh?

Sadly there has been little wind since that Saturday. I'm praying to the Kite God to at least send a little breeze our way. Please join me.

Andy swoops the kite down to the excitement and gasps of onlookers.

It was perhaps the greatest day of my life. Which is surprising considering Paul was there! Just kidding Paul
